Unidentified gunmen have abducted the traditional ruler of Karshi village in Rogo Council Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ado Muhammad Lawan.
The village head was confirmed kidnapped in his palace and taken to an unknown destination.
A statement issued by Spokesman of Karaye Emirate Council, Haruna Gunduwawa yesterday, revealed that about 10 persons armed with dangerous weapons forced themselves into the monarch’s home, seized and took him away.
“The incidence was brought to the notice of the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II, by the District Head of Rogo, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Mahraz, who officially reported the unfortunate occurrence.
“The kidnappers invaded the village about 2am on Monday. After kidnapping the monarch, they trekked distance of almost 10 kilometres in the forest and later mounted their motorbikes and fled with their captive,” the statement reads.
When contacted, the Police Spokesman in Kano, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the development, saying the Inspector General of Police (IGP’s) anti-kidnapping and men of Operation Puff Adder have been deployed to track the abductors.
