By Prince Benson Davies
The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, has confirmed his participation as Special Guest at the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association, FiBOP.
The two-day conference is scheduled to hold on October 17 and 18, 2026 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
The event will convene key stakeholders from across the economy, including policymakers, financial regulators, industry leaders, investors, business executives and media professionals, to deliberate on practical pathways to unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential.
This year’s conference is themed Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.
Mr. Oyedele’s confirmation is seen as a major boost to the conference, given his central role in driving Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal and tax reforms. His participation is expected to enrich discussions on revenue optimization, tax administration, business climate reforms and investment attraction.
According to the organizers, his session will provide a platform for direct engagement between government and the private sector on fiscal policy direction, economic coordination and the imperatives of private sector-led growth.
The Chairman of the Conference is Dr. Muda Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise. Other dignitaries expected include Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, who will attend as Special Guest, and Mrs. Bola Odukale, Director General of the Nigerian Insurers Association, who will be Guest Speaker.
The conference agenda will focus extensively on six critical pillars – taxation, industrial development, insurance penetration, financial technology, trade facilitation and investment promotion – and their interlinkages in achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy ambition.
Beyond policy dialogue, the event will also feature an Awards segment to celebrate individuals and institutions that have demonstrated exceptional contribution to financial services growth, enterprise development and credible economic reporting in Nigeria.
FiBOP President said the conference underscores the association’s commitment to fostering informed economic discourse and strengthening collaboration among government institutions, the private sector and the media as catalysts for sustainable economic expansion.
