The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NCS) has said strategic effort is being made to revamp the Kano Dry Ports, with capacity to generate over 24,000 direct job opportunities.
The ports, which have not been put to full operationally use has the capacity to enhance modern cargo trade system in Kano.
Executive Secretary of NCS, Hassan Bello, hinted of the plans when he visited Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at Government House, Kano.
Bello said the council was working in synergy with the Kano State government to revitalise the dry ports, which he hoped would reposition businesses and industrial viability of Kano.
Besides, he disclosed that Kano was selected with Enugu and Lokoja in Kogi State for the establishment of Truck Transit Parks.
Bello said the transit parks were strategic to the regulation of cargo movement, while retuning safety and civility to the nation’s highways.
