Regulatory Heat on Targeted Financial Sanctions: DataPro Opens Registration for Virtual Training

By Prince Benson Davies

In response to the tightening regulatory landscape on Targeted Financial Sanctions and the compliance gaps flagged in recent GIABA mutual evaluation reports, DataPro Limited has announced its October 2026 Open-House Training on Countering Proliferation Financing.

The intensive two-day capacity building programme is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th October, 2026. The training will be virtual via Zoom and will run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM daily.

The programme is coming at a time when Financial Institutions and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions are under increased regulatory pressure to strengthen their frameworks for countering proliferation financing and compliance with targeted financial sanctions linked to proliferation.

According to DataPro, the training is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and actionable procedures to meet both regulatory and statutory requirements. It will focus on closing observed deficiencies in risk assessment, customer due diligence and reporting.

The course objectives include assisting financial institutions and DNFBPs in meeting regulatory obligations for countering proliferation financing and targeted financial sanctions, equipping employees and directors with the skills needed to discharge their compliance functions effectively, teaching customer due diligence processes specific to proliferation financing, and exposing participants to risk management and reporting procedures.

The syllabus is structured into five modules. Module one covers the conceptual framework for countering proliferation financing. Module two addresses internal policies, programs, processes and procedures. Module three focuses on risk assessment for proliferation financing compliance. Module four deals with customer due diligence and transaction monitoring, while module five covers the reporting framework.

DataPro noted that by the end of the training, participating teams would be equipped with actionable customer due diligence and risk assessment procedures required to meet FATF standards.

The investment per participant is N100,000 VAT exclusive, with group booking discounts available. Interested institutions are advised to finalise nominations and secure participation as limited slots remain.
