Grief has swept through the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) following the sudden death of its official photographer, Paul Erakhifu, fondly called “Texas” by colleagues and friends.

Erakhifu reportedly slumped and died on Friday, May 1.

Sources close to the Authority confirmed to the new experience that he passed away after attending a departmental strategic meeting of the NPA and later participating in an excursion in Lagos.

Known for his cheerful disposition and easygoing nature, Erakhifu was described as a friendly personality who related warmly with colleagues and members of the maritime media community.

Beyond the NPA, Erakhifu’s passing is deeply felt across the wider maritime industry, where he was respected for his professionalism and the warmth he brought to his work. His lens captured many of the Authority’s milestones, and his presence will be missed by all who knew him.
