The Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) will convene the 3rd edition of its Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme in Lagos, with a focus on equipping Senior Secondary School students with practical knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, digital skills, insurance, and financial literacy.

The programme, themed “Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence, Online Safety, Insurance, and Financial Literacy for Nigerian Youth,” is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference Centre in Ikeja. The initiative brings together industry professionals, policymakers, and government officials to mentor students and expose them to opportunities in Nigeria’s evolving digital and financial sectors.

A major feature of this year’s edition is an intensive AI masterclass facilitated by a leading Artificial Intelligence specialist. The session will give students hands-on exposure to how AI works, its real-world applications, and the career pathways it creates both locally and internationally. The aim is to simplify complex concepts around AI and provide students with foundational skills to compete in a technology-driven economy.

“This initiative is about giving students more than theory and ensuring that we give them the opportunity to interact directly with experts thereby exposing them to those building the future of technology, insurance and finance,” said FiBOP President, Mr. Charles Onwuatogwu. “The AI masterclass promises to be one of the most impactful sessions, preparing students for the skills the job market will demand in the next decade.”

Beyond AI, the seminar will cover digital skills, online safety, insurance, and financial literacy through lectures and mentorship sessions. Speakers will include industry professionals, policymakers, and representatives from government, including the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Lagos State.

Now in its third year, the FiBOP Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme reflects the association’s commitment to promoting digital and financial literacy among secondary school students in Lagos and across Nigeria. The programme is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice by connecting students directly with experts and stakeholders who can provide mentorship and career guidance.

FiBOP, a registered association of Online Publishers, said the initiative is part of its broader mandate to build capacity and support the growth of Nigeria and Africa’s digital economy.
