FiBOP Annual Conference 2026 to Tackle Taxation, Fintech, Trade and Investment in Bid to Unlock Nigeria’s $1Trillion Vision
By prince Benson Davies
The Finance and Business Online Publishers (FiBOP), the professional body of business and financial journalists in Nigeria, has announced plans to host its 2026 Annual Conference on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
The gathering comes at a defining moment for Nigeria’s economy, as government and private sector actors intensify efforts to achieve the ambitious $1 trillion economy target by 2030. With inflationary pressures, policy reforms, and global investment shifts shaping the business environment, FiBOP 2026 is positioned to drive conversations that translate policy intentions into measurable outcomes.
With the theme “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade & Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision”, the 2-day conference will bring together regulators, policymakers, chief executives, investors, and development partners to interrogate existing frameworks and identify practical levers for growth. The event will be chaired by Dr. Muda Yusuf, CEO of The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE).
Central to the deliberations will be how fiscal policy can be re-engineered for smarter revenue generation without stifling businesses, and how industry and manufacturing can be scaled to create jobs and reduce import dependence. Participants will also examine the role of insurance in deepening financial inclusion, the impact of fintech in expanding access to capital, and strategies to boost trade through improved port efficiency and stronger intra-African commerce. Investment flows, both domestic and foreign, will feature prominently as stakeholders seek pathways to fund critical infrastructure and productive sectors.
Barnabas Esiet, Chairman of the FiBOP Conference Planning Committee, said the conference was designed to move beyond rhetoric and deliver implementable recommendations. According to him, the committee is prioritizing sessions that will address economic reforms, enterprise development, job creation, and the role of data-driven journalism in supporting sound policy decisions.
FiBOP President, Charles Onwuatogwu, noted that the media has a critical role in shaping economic outcomes.
“As business and financial journalists, we are committed to amplifying conversations that shape Nigeria’s economic future. FiBOP 2026 will bridge the gap between policy and practice. It will serve as a catalyst to unearth opportunities, deepen sectoral reforms, and provide actionable insights for achieving the $1 trillion economy vision by 2030,” he stated.
The conference is expected to draw senior government officials, heads of agencies, leaders of banks, fintechs, insurance firms, manufacturing groups, and investors committed to Nigeria’s growth story.
