Nigeria’s financial, regulatory and media community will converge in Lagos next month for a major national dialogue on economic growth as the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association, FiBOP, holds its 2026 Annual Conference and Awards.

The event is scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2026, at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos. It is expected to attract policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and publishers for two days of policy review, networking and recognition of excellence.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, CPPE, Dr. Muda Yusuf, will serve as Chairman of the event. Dr. Yusuf, a leading voice on Nigeria’s economy, will provide direction on how taxation, industry performance and private sector reforms can drive the country’s $1 trillion vision.

Delivering the keynote address as Guest Speaker is the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Insurers Association, NIA, Mrs. Bola Odukale. Her address is expected to focus on the role of insurance in de-risking investments and supporting national economic stability.

The Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, NGX Group, Alhaji Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, will attend as Special Guest of Honour. His participation brings capital market expertise to discussions around financing, fintech, and investment mobilization.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.” The theme was designed to align government policy with private sector action across key growth sectors.

FiBOP has also received confirmations from several leading institutions. The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Zenith Bank and Polaris Bank are among the organizations that have indicated participation. Organisers said further confirmations are being expected from players in insurance, fintech, trade and investment.

According to FiBOP, the strong response from regulators and corporations reflects the growing influence of online business journalism in shaping public discourse and holding institutions accountable. The association stated that the conference will provide a platform for open engagement between government, regulators, investors and the media.

The gathering will bring together economic managers, financial experts, business executives, development partners and media professionals to deliberate on practical strategies for expanding industry, deepening financial inclusion, strengthening the capital market and improving the investment climate.

In addition to the conference sessions, FiBOP will host its annual awards. The awards will celebrate individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s economy, business development, financial services, insurance, technology, capital market and other critical sectors.

FiBOP leadership noted that the 2026 edition is being structured to produce actionable outcomes rather than just conversations. Networking sessions have been incorporated to encourage collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The association expressed appreciation to Dr. Yusuf, Mrs. Odukale, Dr. Kwairanga and all the institutions that have confirmed participation. It said their involvement will add credibility and national weight to the deliberations.

Stakeholders across finance, business and the economy are invited to be part of the two days of robust engagement as FiBOP continues its mandate to promote responsible business reporting and economic development through accurate and balanced digital publishing.

For partnership, participation and media enquiries, contact the FiBOP secretariat ahead of the October date.
