Customs CG Inspects Kano Training College, Pledges Modern Facilities For New Recruits

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has inspected the Customs Training College, Goron Dutse, Kano, ahead of the commencement of the 2026 Customs Basic Training Programme.
The inspection is part of preparations for the Service’s 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, which will see newly recruited officers undergo basic training before deployment to various commands nationwide.
During the visit, Adeniyi assessed the state of facilities, logistics and other infrastructure needed to support the training programme. He said the Service is committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure a conducive environment for learning and professional development.
According to him, equipping training institutions with modern infrastructure is critical to producing officers who are competent, disciplined and ready to meet the demands of contemporary customs operations.
He stressed that the quality of basic training given to new recruits will determine the effectiveness of service delivery across the Service in the coming years.
The Comptroller-General was received by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, Assistant Comptroller-General Nsikan Umoh; the Controller, Federal Operations Unit Zone B, Comptroller Aminu Sule; the Commandant of the Customs Training College, Kano, Deputy Comptroller Umar Atiku; and other senior officers.
The Commandant briefed Adeniyi on ongoing preparations, developments at the college, and measures put in place to accommodate the new intakes for the 2026 training.
Adeniyi reiterated that manpower development remains a priority for the current leadership of the Service. He said the inspection underscores management’s resolve to strengthen training institutions and prepare new personnel for effective performance.
The 2026 Customs Basic Training Programme is expected to equip recruits with the skills, knowledge and discipline required for operations in enforcement, trade facilitation and revenue generation.
