The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Aswani Police Station, Isolo, Oyin Frances recently changed the saying that ‘’Police are always taking without giving back to society” when she provided palliatives for more than 1,000 people in the community where she worked before and where she is serving now.
She said, “I like cooking, I always like giving to people around me, I also like making friend maybe because I was born on February 14, although I always cook for my personnel at any festival period and this breakdown is not expected, I hired a cattery to be cooking for my officers’ twins daily, until I could not go twice again, I later relaxed it to one meal daily.
“Along that line, when we call to share food, I discovered that people in the community are also coming in to collect food, that was why I decided that I am going to take care of the people in the community where I am serving, that is here in Aswani and also extend it to where I have served before I was posted here, that is Okota Police Station and area ‘F’’ Police Command (Barrack)
“As a matter of fact, I am not expecting any reward from anybody and it is not that I have money somewhere, I am just doing it on my own as a widows mite, I feel for the widows, this is why I will be giving out a special palliative to the widows in Area F Police Barracks because at the moment, only God Almighty is the one taking care of them since they lost their husband.”
She added that Nigerians should not believe that the police were only taking and not giving, adding, “We are all human and we also have feelings, we all should not be grouped together when a policeman is not doing well.”
Among the Items are, sanitisers, handwashing soaps, salt, nose mask, Indomie and cooked food to about 1, 000 recipients in the three communities visited.
On his part, Vice Chairman, Area ‘’D’ Police Command and Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), M. A. Adegboyega advised that members of the public should not see the police as the people that always take without giving back to the society, while he asked the beneficiaries of the palliatives to pray for SCP Oyin for her kindness.
“CSP Oyin is kind because she is a woman that knows the worth of other women, as they are the ones that gave birth to police, lawyers and doctors, among others and that is why they are mothers to all and should always be celebrated,” he said.
One of the recipients, Mrs. Oluka, who is a wife of policeman at Area ‘F’ Police Command, thanked CSP Oyin for her kindness toward them, adding that since the lookdown started, she had never received any palliatives from anywhere.
“This is the first of its kind, God will always continue to bless her for us,” she said.
