Expert tasks N’Assembly on amendment of land use act

CHIEF Executive Officer of BSTAN Homes, Becky Damilola-Oke, has urged the National Assembly to urgently review the Land Use Act, which the country has been operating for the past 40 years.

Damilola-Oke, who made the call in Abuja, while unveiling top Nollywood actors as the group’s official brand ambassadors, stated that the amendment would reduce inconveniences and illegalities in the Act and give Nigerians more access to land and landed property.

The ambassadors unveiled are, Yewande Adekoya Abiodun, Femi Branch, Ayo Adesanya, Muyideen Oladipo and Funsho Adeolu.

Damilola-Oke said, “If the land use Act is put in place, it would bring about good governance in the housing industry and ensure good governance in construction works.

“The Eighth assembly tried, but did not succeed in doing that and I am advocating that the Ninth Assembly should be able to achieve that.

“I will work with COREN and other stakeholders to ensure that the Ninth Assembly passes a law that will amend the Land Use Act because there are several issues in the old Act.”
