Representative of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has reacted to his defense of President Muhammadu Buhari for attending Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Saudi Arabia.
President Buhari had earlier been criticised for attending the OIC summit, which the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had described as unconstitutional and intimidating.
Defending the President, Sani said OIC was not a spiritual organisation, but an assembly of nations that share common challenges and making efforts to find solutions to them.
In an interview, Sani argued that individuals have the right to criticise anybody, but they must understand that Nigeria needed to work with other countries to find solutions to the common challenges and dangers currently facing it.
“If there is an organisation of Christian countries, which will bring economic and security benefits to Nigeria, there is nothing wrong with Nigeria also being part of it. After all, Nigeria is a nation dominated by Muslims and Christians,” he added.
