The House of Representatives has resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate alleged fraudulent activities in the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
This followed a motion by Tajudeen Obasa (PDP-Lagos) during plenary.
Moving the motion, Obasa expressed concern over allegations of massive looting at the Kaiama Amnesty Centre in Bayelsa State between February 14 and February 16, 2019.
“Coordinator of the centre in collaboration with security agents and other unknown persons carted away equipment worth billions of naira with the knowledge of Special Adviser on Amnesty to the President.
“It has become imperative to investigate the allegations for the good of the Niger Delta people and the nation. Failure to act on time will lead to wreckage of the programme and eroding of its essence,” he said.
