PDP decries Cameroonian tag on Atiku Abubakar as Wike seeks forgiveness

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday dismissed what it called “reckless and groundless claim” by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that its standard-bearer, Atiku Abubakar, was a Camerounian as a calculated attempt to “trivialise and divert attention from the compelling issue of their criminal rigging of the 2019 presidential election.”

In a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party declared that “this disingenuous claim is also a woeful design by the APC to overburden, distract and bog down the presidential election petitions tribunal with trivialities, lies and falsehood so as to derail the course of justice.”

Also yesterday, Governor Nyesom Wike pleaded for forgiveness from his political adversaries, even as he committed himself to peace.

The Rivers chief executive said his victory at the March 9, 2019 polls was for the people and marked a new beginning for the state.

He spoke during a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt.

The governor stated that despite the turmoil that pervaded the exercise, there was really no loser.

“Nobody has won and nobody has lost the elections.  But Rivers State has won. I forgive anyone that has wronged me and I also ask for forgiveness from those that I have wronged, ” he appealed.
