Nigeria Customs Service’s Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Ikeja, has handed over three truckloads of expired pharmaceuticals worth ₦3.8 billion to NAFDAC. This move is a win in the fight against counterfeit products in Nigeria, thanks to the MoU between Customs and NAFDAC.

Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu of FOU Lagos emphasized the Service’s commitment to working with NAFDAC to protect public health. The expired drugs pose serious health risks if they get into circulation. Customs prioritizes Nigerians’ health and safety by stopping counterfeit or expired meds from hitting the market.

This handover’s part of ongoing collaboration, and more products might be transferred to NAFDAC after investigations wrap up. The Customs-NAFDAC partnership plays a big role in keeping Nigeria’s meds safe and effective.
