The Zonal Coordinator of Nigeria Customs Service Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General Charles Orbih, has commended the Western Marine Command for their outstanding contributions to national security and economic protection. During a working visit to the Command, ACG Orbih praised the Command’s pivotal role in securing Nigeria’s maritime borders against smuggling and other transnational crimes.

ACG Orbih highlighted the Service’s impressive revenue collection of ₦1.75 trillion in the first quarter of 2025, with Zone A contributing nearly 80% of the total. He attributed this achievement to increased operational efficiency and strategic reforms under the leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR.

The Zonal Coordinator emphasized the impact of key reforms, including:

– Advance Ruling System: Enhancing trade facilitation and reducing clearance times
– Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) program: Promoting trusted trader partnerships
– B’Odogwu Platform: Streamlining cargo clearance and tracking capabilities

ACG Orbih commended the Western Marine Command for its infrastructural improvements and urged continued collaboration with sister agencies to stay ahead of evolving security threats. He emphasized the critical role of the public in reporting suspicious activities related to smuggling or illegal trade.

The Zonal Coordinator reinforced the Service’s three strategic pillars: Consolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation, and rallied frontline commands to uphold their mandate with renewed vigor and integrity. The Customs Area Controller, Western Marine Command, Comptroller Patrick Ntadi, appreciated the ACG’s visit and assured him that officers and men of the Command will continue to make the service proud.
