The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over palliative materials worth #40.892,00 to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
Handing over the items to the representative of the ministry, Mrs Oluwakemi Adedeji, the Custom Area Controller of the command, Compt. Olugbenga Peters said it is in compliance with the Federal Government palliative measure to cushion the effect of lockdown caused by covid -19 pandemic
Addressing the newsmen in his command in Lagos, Compt. Peters said the three items were smuggled, seized and condemned by court of competence jurisdiction before been handed over to the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in line with the Federal government directory.
Mrs. Oluwakemi Adedeji thanked the controller General of customs, Hammed Ali, for his support and great assistant in the course of implementation of Mr. President directive that all the items should go for palliative measures on covid-19, adding that states should begin to get these items to onward delivery to poor and vulnerable household in different states.
According to Adedeji, ” We started the operation since Monday, our team have been at Strike force, Federal Operation Unit, Ikorodu and Jaelith bonded terminal, we have delivered items of Rice, vegetable oil,tomatoe paste to different states, like Anambra, Enugu, Borno, Bauchi and other states, noting that Western Marine Command items will be delivered to Nasarawa state.”
Earlier in his speech, Compt. Peters stated that 720 bags of 50kg parboiled rice classified under harmonized system code of 10.06 with DPV of #14.976,00, 297 bags of used clothing on HS Code 6309 with DPV of #24.948,00, 11 sacks of used shoes valued at #968.000.
All items totalling #40.892,00, was handed over to the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to be delivered to Nasarawa. state.
