Western Marine Command makes Huge Poultry Seizure. By Chinyere Ejuka

The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has made a massive seizure of frozen poultry products worth #23.7million in just two separate raids.

The seizure, according to information gathered is a total of two thousand, three hundred and forty-nine (2,349) cartons of frozen products

which were intercepted on two separate operations by the officers of the operations unit of the command code-named “the Beach Combers”, the seizures which were  recorded on the 21st and 22nd of September were 2,096 cartons 253 cartons respectively were intercepted along the Badagry and Ibeche waterways.

While addressing newsmen during the destruction of the products which was carried out on the 24th of September, the Customs Area Controller of the command,  Compt. Boyilila Binga urged the smugglers to desist from the illicit trade and source for legitimate means of livelihood,  stressing that the operatives of the command and Nigeria customs service will continue to intercept their illicit trade since they fail to change.

“The command is always ready to intercept contraband and if the smugglers do not want to stop, then we will not relent to continue with the seizures” the comptroller stated.

Recalled that just last week,  the command made two seizures and destroyed poultry products that worth millions.
