A professor of pediatrics, Dominic Osayande Osaghae, has charged government at all levels to improve access to health care by providing more functional Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
He lamented the poor state of PHCs in the country, stressing the need to revive and rehabilitate existing PHCs to tackle challenges confronting survival of Nigerian children.
Osaghae stated this while delivering the 15th Inaugural Lecture of the Igbinedion University, Okada titled: The Roadblocks on the Highway to Survival of Children: The Interventions of A Pediatrician.
The consultant Pediatrician of over three decades experience said providing functional PHCs would assist in addressing the challenges posed by roadblocks on the way to the survival of Nigerian children.
Speaking, Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye, said the lecture was apt considering the challenges posed by roadblocks to the survival of the Nigerian children, adding that the inaugural lecture is a knowledge-based interface.
