The unions, including National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) under the Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions (JAC), have issued a notice of strike asking members to get ready for the industrial action.

In the bulletin notice signed by COOU JAC Leader/Chairman, NAAT, A.C. Okeke; Chairman, NASU, F.O. Nwaibe and Chairman, SSANU, Oddih Obiora in Awka yesterday, the unions said that the JAC had held meetings and signed pacts with the university governing council on the lingering issues.
