Unionist tasks FG on implementation of minimum pay

A former Vice President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Comrade Godwin Ibekwe has asked the Federal Government to implement the wage increase for Nigerian workers.

He noted that the N30, 000 minimum wage earlier approved for should be implemented without further delay, saying the earlier the bureaucratic bottlenecks were removed, the better for the workers.

Speaking in Awka, Anambra State, Ibekwe, who is Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Labour Matters, also said the Anambra State government was ready to abide by the new wage.

Ibekwe, who a former executive of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State Chapter, however, encouraged the Nigerian workers, saying the Federal Government would eventually pay the new wage.
