Borno State Governor Babagana Umara has deployed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) agro-rangers and hunters to implement Rural
Grazing Areas (RUGA) programme in the state.
Land for the state’s RUGA, located in Sambisa Forest and its fringes, covers Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Chibok, Damboa and Askira/Uba council areas.
He disclosed this when the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi paid a Sallah visit to Government House, Maiduguri.
Umara said the deployment of agro rangers, vigilantes and hunters, would ensure that farmers and herders are protected in their communities.
He told the monarch that government would also deploy an Emergency Rapid Response Team (ERRT), comprising security personnel to protect commuters and rural dwellers against Boko Haram terrorists and bandits.
While commending the governor for implementing government’s policies, El-Kanemi sought effective security measures and demolition of illegal hotels in Maiduguri.
