UBA PAYS OUT OVER ₦400 MILLION IN LOYALTY BONUSES TO BUMPER ACCOUNT HOLDERS
Bank Says Consistent Savers Will Keep Getting Rewarded

United Bank for Africa Plc has disbursed more than ₦400 million in anniversary bonuses to thousands of Bumper Account customers, in what the bank describes as one of its largest loyalty payouts to date. The initiative is aimed at reinforcing savings discipline while delivering direct value to customers who maintain active accounts with the bank.
The payout was made under UBA’s flagship Bumper Account, a savings product designed to reward customers annually once their accounts clock a year. Beneficiaries received their bonuses directly into their accounts, underscoring the bank’s focus on turning responsible savings behaviour into tangible benefits.
The Bumper Account works by recognising customers who grow and retain funds over time. At every anniversary, eligible account holders qualify for a cash reward, making long-term saving more attractive and financially rewarding. The product is positioned as both an incentive tool and a platform for deepening financial inclusion across UBA’s retail base.
Speaking on the milestone, Head of Retail Products at UBA, Tomiwa Sotiloye, said the bank is intentional about rewarding relationships that drive mutual growth.
“At UBA, we see loyalty as something to be recognised in real terms. Each bonus we credit is a thank you to customers who keep trusting us with their money goals. Crossing the ₦400 million mark shows that we are building products that do more than hold deposits. They create value. When our customers advance financially, UBA advances too,” he said.
Sotiloye added that opening a Bumper Account is designed to be simple for both new and existing customers. Interested persons can sign up via https://on.ubagroup.com/bumper-tc, at any UBA branch, on the UBA Mobile Banking App, by dialling *919#, or online. He said the multiple access points are intended to help more Nigerians qualify for future anniversary rewards.
Also commenting, Group Head, Brands, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, said the payout reflects UBA’s broader customer-first approach.
“The Bumper Account was built to encourage good financial habits while giving back in ways that matter. Crediting over ₦400 million to customers is not just a transaction. It is proof that we are keeping our promise to make banking more rewarding and to show appreciation for the confidence customers place in us,” she stated.
The Bumper Account remains one of UBA’s key retail offerings, combining savings incentives, digital access, and loyalty rewards. The bank said the product aligns with its strategy to promote sustainable savings, expand financial inclusion, and improve customer experience across its markets.
