Traffic resurfaces in Abuja as NYCN lauds NNPC over uninterrupted fuel supply

Notwithstanding Federal Government’s stay-at-home order being enforced by officials of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), vehicular and human traffic resurfaced in parts of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) as residents have begun to flout the directive.

As the directive began to take its toll on their livelihoods, many residents have been forced to defy the official restriction, as they were sighted along the Karu-Karshi axis of AMAC, either driving, walking or engaged in fitness exercises.

Joggers were seen engaged in sundry exercises at the popular CBN junction located in Karu adjoining the Jikwoyi-Karshi road.

Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, said the directive was part of measures to limit the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in the FCT.

The Minister, Mohammad Bello, had directed market managers and the FCT Police Command to ensure compliance by monitoring all entry and exit points of the various markets, as well as activities of traders.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) over the steady supply and availability of petroleum products in spite of shutdown of the country.

NYCN’s President, Comrade Solomon Adodo, however, cautioned Nigerians against embarking on panic buying of petroleum product during the duration of the lockdown.

Adodo, who conduced field surveys across the country with officials of the NYCN, added that but for NNPC’s strategic planning and efforts, Nigerians would have been subjected to unspeakable hardships in searching for petroleum products with other attendant crisis thrown up.
