Swift Response and Cooperation
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) played a crucial role in responding to the incident, deploying its Special Mission Vessel, DB Lagos, operated by the Nigerian Navy, to the scene. The Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre (MMCC) Zone E, covering Nigeria, Benin, Togo, and Niger Republic, was promptly informed, while MMCC Zone F in Accra, Ghana, provided vital monitoring and information-sharing support.
Investigation Underway
Investigations are currently underway to identify the attackers behind the foiled piracy attempt. The incident highlights the importance of regional cooperation in maintaining maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.
