TINCAN AREA COMMAND GENERATES OVER 200 BILLION IN FIRST QUARTER

 

The Nigeria Customs, TINCAN AREA COMMAND, Lagos State, says it has recorded a total collection of two hundred and thirty billion, three hundred and two million, seven hundred and forty-three thousand, twenty-three naira, and forty-seven kobo (N240,302,743,023.47) for the period of January 2024 till date.

Customs Area Controller, Tin Can Island Port, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, disclosed this at a press briefing, where he noted that the declaration of stewardship over the last months is in line with the fundamental pillars of the Comptroller General of Customs’ vision of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation.

Given a breakdown of the revenue, Comptroller Nnadi confirmed that the command collected a total of Eighty-Eight Billion,Four Hundred and Thirty Million,One Hundred and Twenty-Six Thousand,One Hundred and Twenty-Two Naira, and Seventy-Two Kobo (N88,430,126,122.72) in the month of January 2024, amounting to a 7.89% higher value than the value of Forty-Two Billion, Five Hundred and Thirty-Six Million,Three Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand,Thirty-Eight Naira, and Eleven Kobo (N42,536,336,038.11) for the month of January 2023.

In the month of February 2024, it was disclosed that the command generated One Hundred Billion, Three Hundred and Ninety-Nine Million,Three Hundred and Fifty-Four Thousand,Eight Hundred and Eighty-Seven Naira, and Seven Kobo (N100,399,354,887.71), which is 41.82% higher than the value collected during the same period in 2023, which is Forty-One Billion, Five Hundred and Eighteen Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty-Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty Nine Naira, and Nine Kobo (N41,518,738,649.09).

For the Month of March 2023, the command has so far recorded the sum of Forty-Two Billion, eight hundred and Three Million, Hundred and Fourteen Thousand, Five Hundred and Forty-Four Naira, and eleven kobo.
(N42,473,262,013.00), between March 1st and 13th, 2024.

On the Command’s anti-smuggling drive, the Comptroller expressed pride in the fact that his men have remained relentless in their efforts to put an end to smuggling.

He disclosed that, being the lead agency at the port, the enforcement unit has coordinated several 100% physical examinations under his supervision in collaboration with critical stakeholders to ensure that the command is freed of any form of noncompliance with international trade.

Comptroller Nnadi also acknowledged what he described as the continuous support of the Commander General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi MFR, and his management team.

He reiterated that every support from the service headquarters is valuable in enhancing the command’s operational activities and contributes immensely to its achievements.

The Tin Can Comptroller also extended his appreciation to all officers in rank and file, including the CIU operatives, Customs Police, and Enforcement Unit, amongst other units and other sister security agencies, stressing that their dedication and efforts are of huge importance.

Items seized by the command during it’s anti-custody operations include 12 rifles and 6 pistols.
Other items are:
Two (2) packets of 50 pieces of 9mm live ammunition, totaling 100 rounds.

Twenty-three packets weighing 23kg of substance were confirmed to be heroine.

Marked white: 999– Ten (10) packets of 1kg each = 10 kg

Marked white: Three (3) packets of 1kg each =3kg

Marked blue Saphire— Eight (8) packets of 1kg each = 8kg

Marked 777 Bentley: Two (2) packets of 1kg each = 2 kg

Flat-screen television sets.

HP printer.

Six (6) cartons contain scanner machines.

Five (5) empty metal Jerry cans.

Two (2) washing machines

Three (3) sets of bed frames.

One (1) set of living room furniture.

Three (3) used microwaves.

One (1) used a vacuum cleaner.

Table tennis.

One (1) sport bicycle.

Two wooden crates of light fittings.

One (1) wooden crate containing a motorized toy car.

DSTV dish.

One (1) used a Samsung refrigerator.

Four (4) sets of used sound systems.

One (1) used a barbecue grill.

Two (2) used toasters

Three (3) blenders were used.

Sixteen (16) bags contain used clothes and personal effects.
