Terminal donates N100m for COVID-19 fight

APM Terminals Nigeria has earmarked N100 million to support the efforts of the Federal Government in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 in the most populous black nation.

The port operator added in Lagos that was maintaining continuity in its operations in Apapa and Onne ports in the wake of the pandemic.

Its Managing Director, Mohammed Ahmed, noted that stringent measures had been adopted in line with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to ensure uninterrupted supplies of essential goods while the challenge lasts.

Ahmed said: “As an essential service provider, all terminal operations are running normally and we urge importers to continue taking delivery of their containers to enable the fresh discharge of incoming cargo.”

He hinted that the terminal had contributed N75m towards the United Nations in Nigeria basket fund and was committing N25m on community awareness through radio, social media as well as fliers to sensitise Apapa community on curbing the spread of the disease.
