Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has received a councilor, eight other indigenes of the state and a nursing mother who were captured by bandits in Zamfara State.
He said during the reception ceremony at Government House yesterday that God made it possible for them to regain their freedom after efforts of Sokoto and Zamfara states governments.
Tambuwal noted that negotiations were still ongoing among security agents, Zamfara State government, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and the bandits to secure the release of other captives and usher in peace in the troubled areas of Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina states.
Expressing hope that banditry would soon end in Sokoto State and other parts of the North, he observed that security was a prerequisite for development of any nation.
