Sack Abba Kyari, Monguno, service chiefs, Jokolo tells Buhari, blames FG for worsening security situation

Former Emir of Gwandu in Kebbi State, Major Mustapha Jokolo (rtd), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sack National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno and Chief of Staff (COS) to the President, Abba Kyari over the country’s worsening security situation.

Jokolo, who was ADC to Buhari during the military era, recalled that such altercations between senior officers holding sensitive offices never happened during the military regime because they respected each other’s roles and avoided overlaps.

He said, “In saner climes, all the service chiefs should have been sacked, because public outcry was against them coupled with an increasingly deteriorating security situation.”

Speaking in a Radio interview monitored in Kaduna, he told the President that the NSA and COS that unless they tow the line of the Nigerian public, God was watching them because the country was greater than any individual.

His words: “The misunderstanding between them was borne out of greed and selfishness, if not, the two are brothers. They are Muslims and from the same tribe. President Buhari had brought them to assist him in different roles, why should there be any conflict of roles?

“But whenever any of them encroaches into the other’s territory, there will be problems. Truly, Munguno complained, but he did not direct his complaints to the right persons.

“He should have written directly to Buhari on how he felt about Kyari. This is because Buhari tends to recognise his Chief of Staff as his deputy.

“President Buhari had said everything should be done through the COS and this implied that he has given him limitless powers and he can do anything. But this is a misnomer.”

He stressed that Nigerians were not happy with the service chiefs, who should have been be removed and much better ones appointed.
