*Review of ETO Agreement: NPA Promises No Impact on Port Operations*
By prince Benson Davies
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has issued a press statement assuring the public of seamless operations of the Electronic Truck Call-Up System (ETO) despite the review of the expired agreement governing the system.
According to the statement signed by Ikechukwu Onyemakara, General Manager, Corporate Communications and Strategy, the NPA has clear provisions within the expired agreement to guarantee operational stability and ensure business continuity.
“The NPA has options under the expired agreement to be adopted to ensure that necessary arrangements are in place for business continuity by the parties that would ensure that operations are not disrupted in any way,” Onyemakara stated.
The review is a routine administrative process consistent with global best practices, and the Authority is committed to safeguarding the gains recorded since the introduction of the digital call-up system.
The ETO platform was introduced in 2021 to regulate truck movement into the Lagos ports corridor and has contributed to improved cargo evacuation, enhanced vessel turnaround time, and greater predictability in port operations.
The NPA appreciates the patience and understanding of its stakeholders and assures them of its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder engagement throughout this process.
