Regional Maritime Cooperation Gets Boost as NIMASA and TASAC Partner

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Cooperation (TASAC) to strengthen regional maritime cooperation and support the growth of Africa’s maritime sector. The MoU was signed during a high-level bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the IMO General Assembly.
The partnership aims to advance maritime surveillance, develop seafarer capacity, strengthen cabotage administration, and expand the use of digital information systems. Both parties emphasized that the MoU marks the start of a new phase in regional maritime collaboration and expressed confidence that the partnership will enhance maritime governance, improve operational capacity, and support the development of strong and resilient maritime institutions.
The MoU was signed by NIMASA’s Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, and TASAC’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the IMO, Dr. Devotha Edward Mandanda. The meeting was also attended by NIMASA’s Governing Board Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, Executive Directors, and Nigeria’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the IMO, William Bwala.
The partnership is expected to promote sustainable growth and development in Africa’s maritime sector, and both parties look forward to working together to achieve these goals.
