PTML Customs Hits N138b Revenue In 3Q, 2020 By Chinonye Anyatonwu

The Port Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected N138b revenue from January to September 2020.

A statement issued by Customs Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Mohammed Yakubu, revealed that the figure represents 19 per cent increase over the N116b collected within same period of 2019 with a surplus of N22.124b.

He attributed the increase to volume of cargo and strategies by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Festus Okun in blocking all areas of revenue leakages, adding that the command made its highest monthly collection of N18.147b in August.

Okun urged all port users operating at the PTML to comply with regulations by making sincere declarations, avoiding smuggling and adhering strictly to import and export prohibition lists.

He also commended customs officers under his watch for their diligence and commitment in ensuring seamless trade facilitation and promoting ease of doing business in line with government directives.

A monthly breakdown of the collections showed increases in 2020 figures above 2019 except in July when N14.860b was collected in 2019 representing 1.3 per cent rise over the N14.661b collected in July 2020
