Oyo to raise distress call centre on security, others

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is to establish an emergency communication centre for distress calls on security and other issues of urgent concerns in the state.

The governor dropped the hint when he received the management of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) who paid him a courtesy visit in Ibadan, the state capital.

Makinde said though a similar centre was already in the ancient city, he, however, promised that his administration would harness the facility for the benefit of the people.

He hinted that government would raise a team to work with the NCC on ICT and telecommunications by way of getting data on mast installations in the state and how it could get its entitlements from operators in terms of taxes.
