A fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a past chairman of the Victoria Island branch of the Society, Babagana Mohammed has canvassed the need to build the country on different fronts.
Mohammed, who was sworn in as the 32nd National President of the NSE recently at Abuja made the assertion in his acceptance speech stressing, “We will align with the national development goals 2030 and ensure the engineering profession gives its best in national development.”
He promised that the NSE would open its doors to innovation from all and sundry, adding, “Individuals with outstanding ideas that can move the nation forward will get support from the society whether or not such individuals are engineers. What matters now to society is the greater good of the nation.
He further harped on the importance of young engineering graduates getting necessary assistance through jobs that would equip them with relevant skills in the 21st century, insisting that young engineering graduates should be job creators either for themselves or others.

He proposed ways of strengthening the NSE, increasing its membership, mentoring and nurturing young engineers, as well as settling conflicts within the engineering family from different regions of the country, among others.
The event was attended by Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum and some members of his cabinet most of whom are engineers, Governor of Yobe State, Mai Buni, immediate past governor of Borno State currently a member of the National Assembly, Kashim Shettima, President, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, past presidents of NSE, fellows and other personalities from within and outside the engineering profession.
