NSCDC unveils isolation centre as Enugu govt insures doctors, others

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inaugurated an isolation centre for suspected cases of Coronavirus in Enugu State.
Commissioning the 150-bed capacity facility domiciled at the Corps Training School in Achi, Oji River Council Area, NSCDC Commandant in the state, Everistus Obiyo, said it would serve as isolation centre for any suspected case of COVID-19.
“NSCDC set up the facility to combat the virus in the event of an outbreak in the state although we are not praying for that. I assure Enugu residents that we have ventilators, temperature gauge and other equipment at the centre,” he said.
Obiyo noted that the command has provided necessary logistics for the centre to function effectively, adding that additional logistics would soon be deployed to complement existing ones.
On the location of the centre, the NSCDC boss disclosed that the command had enough operational vehicles to convey suspected cases to the centre, saying it would deploy more vehicles if the need arose.
Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has approved Group Life/Group Personal Accident Assurance Policy for all medical doctors in the state Ministry of Health and hospitals.
A statement issued by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Simon Ortuanya, disclosed that it was part of government’s resolve to strengthen the state’s response to Coronavirus pandemic.
Ortuanya said the package covered medical doctors in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), adding that it also extended to doctors in the State Ministry of Health and all health workers, among others.
