NPA Celebrates Women’s Contributions to Maritime Sector

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Abubakar Danthoso, has praised the contributions of women to the maritime industry, highlighting his commitment to gender equality in key appointments at the NPA. In a message to mark International Women’s Day, Dr. Danthoso revealed that 60% of his aides and technical assistants are women.

Danthoso stated that this intentional step underscores NPA’s commitment to advancing women’s participation and success across the maritime industry. He recognized the remarkable contributions of women to the progress and success of NPA, saying they continue to drive progress, break barriers, and shape a more equitable future for the sector.

The NPA MD specifically celebrated the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of women in various roles within the maritime sector, including firefighting, security, piloting, engineering, hydrography, administrative, and vessel-support services. He noted that these women are excelling in roles that traditionally demand male strength.
