NO PRESIDENT CAN ALLOCATE LANDS BY FORCE IN NIGERIA By uche Ogbonnaya

Prominent Igbo leader in Lagos and the Akajiofor Ndigbo of Ijagemo land in IBA lcda, High Chief Obi Gerald Njiofor, has asked Igbos and other Nigerians to remain calm in the face of the rising tension in the country about lands seizure or forceful allocation,stressing that God almighty will never allow such injustice in his omnipotence.

Njiofor who spoke to newsmen at the popular Daikon hotel in Lagos at the end of the recent meeting of Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria,where he was officially inducted as a distinguished member,noted that all covert and overt plots by anybody, no matter how highly placed, to forcefully take portions of land belonging to one section, for any reason, and deliver to a group for ulterior reasons will fail.

According to him, the unity and progress of Nigeria should dominate the minds of leaders and citizens, especially now that a lot must be done to accelerate development. Njiofor who seized the occasion to seek that the members and executives of Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria, a socio-cultural group he described as unique, in terms of its developmental and helpful agenda, make Chief C.C Nwokedi,the President-General of the association,a life president due to his sincerity,simplicity and his link with credible personalities in the country,and due to his devout struggle to elevate the Igbos and pursue good,even for other Nigerians.

Talking about Ijagemo, Njiofor noted that the road leading to the area needs serious government attention. He said,” Ijagemo road is a headache. It is so bad, as bad as has made the people unable to move freely and drive their vehicles comfortably. I have resorted to using the popular Okada, just like many others”.

Njiofor also expressed worry over the spate of joblessness amongst the Igbos there, particularly the youths. He, therefore, promised to offer assistance to the reasonable and ready-to-grow ones. He lamented the level of gossiping that goes on in Ijagemo land among the Igbos; a situation he said causes conflicts.

Njiofor who is also the Ogbuefi Ume Mmiri Dichie Ozubulu Kingdom,Obi Ndigbo of mushin land and a highly revered Chief in his native clan in Anambra state,asked Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association to continue to project the good name of the association,stressing that it took him 2 years to study the group before joining them.
