Commissioner of Police (CP), Delta State Command, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, has cautioned armed herdsmen and kidnappers unleashing mayhem in the state to leave or face superior firepower of its operatives.
Inuwa, who identified Isele-Azagba and Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North Council Area and Illah in Oshimili North Council Area as flashpoints for kidnappers and armed robbers wreaking havoc, gave the warning during his routine visit to the Asaba Area Command where he gave marching orders to Divisional Police Officers (DPOs).
He also met members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), non-indigenes, the vigilance groups and other groups and associations doing businesses in the state.
The CP, who took his time to give account of the command’s efforts since assuming office, assured his hosts that his core mandate in Delta was to combat crime and flush out criminal elements from the state.
He urged all the stakeholders to support the efforts of the police and other security agencies in combating violent crimes.
The police boss also advised Delta residents on the need to manage information relating to security, adding that insecurity has become the order of the day to the extent that it needed extra care and tact to handle.
He, however, pledged that he would commit his time, energy and resources to ensure the workability and success of community policing in the state, adding that it is the way to go in tackling insecurity.
Inuwa also appealed for support of the special constabularies recently approved by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to be set up policing units for communities in all divisions to assist in the fight against crimes.
“I assure you that criminals will not have any hiding place in the state. We are doing our best to returning fire for fire and there is no going back. Immediately I resumed here, I swung into action and we recorded some success in the first month of our operations. And I assure you that we are recording more successes daily.
“All we need is your cooperation and support to win this fight against insecurity and we encourage all to share information with us and be rest assured that we will be the best of professionals in managing such information,” he said.
