NIS Commences Continuous Migrants E-Registration Nationwide

Following the gradual easing of the Covid-19 lockdown nationwide by the Federal Government, Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has directed commands to gradually commence Migrant e-registration exercise from Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

A statement issued by Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the service, James Sunday disclosed that as a follow up to the directive, the following precautionary measures against Covid-19 as provided by National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) should be followed strictly:

Routine Environmental Cleaning of Registration Centre’s before migrants are granted access; Routine checking of body temperature of migrants by the use of temperature measuring tools prescribed and Provision and use of hand sanitisers and soap for washing hand, which ever applicable.

Others are, adherence to use of face masks (No Face Mask No Entry) to registration centres; Observance of social and physical distancing as prescribed (two metres apart), and single entry and exit point to control and monitor flow of migrants at each point.

“The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service expects maximum compliance from both the operatives at the frontline and the migrants, as safety and precautionary measures to curb person to person spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and safeguard lives,” the statement added.
