NIMASA DG Calls for Continued Collaboration in 2026

The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has extended warm greetings to stakeholders and their families as the year comes to a close. In his end-of-year message, Dr. Mobereola expressed sincere appreciation for the cooperation, partnership, and steadfast support received from stakeholders throughout 2025.
According to Dr. Mobereola, the contributions of stakeholders have been instrumental to the progress recorded across Nigeria’s maritime sector. He highlighted some of the agency’s achievements in 2025, including ²:
– Sustained Zero Piracy Incidents: NIMASA successfully maintained zero piracy incidents in Nigerian waters, a testament to the effectiveness of the agency’s maritime security measures.
– International Recognition: Nigeria’s election into the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, a significant milestone that reflects the country’s growing influence in global maritime governance.
– Industrial Harmony: The agency maintained industrial harmony in the sector, with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) praising NIMASA’s constructive engagement and commitment to promoting workers’ welfare.
Dr. Mobereola assured stakeholders that NIMASA is committed to consolidating its gains and delivering even greater outcomes for the sector and the nation at large in 2026. He called on industry operators to brace up for the new year with hope of better times, emphasizing that Nigeria’s membership of the IMO Council comes with greater responsibilities.
The NIMASA DG concluded by wishing stakeholders and their loved ones a peaceful, productive, and fulfilling Year 2026.
