Nigerian Navy confirms abduction of 10 Turks by pirates in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Navy has said 10 crewmembers of the Turkish-flagged general cargo vessel, MV PAKSOY 1, attacked by pirates at the weekend in the Niger Delta was still missing.

Waylaid South West of Brass, the naval high command said the ship was eventually intercepted outside the shores of Nigerian territory by Ghanaian Navy.

In a statement in Abuja, naval spokesman, Commodore Suleman Dahun, said seven others found onboard the vessel sailed it after its interception in Tema Port, Ghana.

The force said: “Investigations are also ongoing towards getting a lead to burst the hideout of these criminals and rescue the abducted persons.”
