Nigeria Returns to IMO Council: NIMASA Staff Celebrate

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) staff recently hosted a surprise reception for the Director General, Dr Dayo Mobereola, and the Executive Directors to commemorate Nigeria’s election into the Category C Council of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The reception was held at the Agency’s Boardroom in Lagos and was attended by senior management staff and other members of staff.
Dr. Mobereola described the victory as a significant achievement for the maritime industry and Nigeria, highlighting the crucial role played by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola. He commended the staff for their invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s victory, noting that their hard work and dedication had been instrumental to the country’s success.
The Director General also charged staff to redouble their efforts, emphasizing that winning the Category C Council seat was just the beginning and that sustainability would require continued hard work and commitment. He urged staff to support the agency’s efforts to maintain its position in the IMO Council.
Nigeria’s election into the Category C Council of the IMO is a significant milestone for the country, marking its return to the Council after a 14-year wait. The victory is a testament to the country’s growing influence in the maritime industry and its commitment to maritime safety and security.
