The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken a significant step in promoting education and community development with the commissioning of the renovated Christ Assembly Nursery and Primary School in Ajegunle, Lagos. The event, led by Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi, marked a major milestone in the Service’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts under the “Customs Cares” initiative.
The initiative aims to support 50,000 students in 2025 by distributing school items and improving learning environments. The CGC emphasised the importance of investing in education and expressed hope that the intervention would inspire students to aspire to greatness. The event featured cultural performances by the school’s pupils, goodwill messages from dignitaries, and a formal presentation of educational materials to students.
The “Customs Cares initiative has six focus areas, including education, healthcare, creative industry support, access to potable water, and information technology and ICT support. The NCS has already distributed 10,000 school items, with 3,000 going to Lagos, and plans to reach out to 2,000 more school pupils.
The event showcased the NCS’s commitment to building stronger relationships with the communities it serves and setting a strong example of public sector impact.
