NGOs task Gombe state on domestication of Child Rights Act

Different Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Gombe State have told the state government to domesticate the Child Rights Act to curb early and forced marriage in the state.

The NGOs made the call on Tuesday in separate interviews on the sidelines of a roundtable organised in Gombe by Save the Children International to deliberate on the best approach to tackle Child Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM).

According to them, it has become imperative that the act be domesticated if Gombe hopes to address the issues relating to child rights violation in the state.

Gombe State Project Manager of Save the Children International, Altine Lewi, said that the committee set up by the previous administration had concluded and submitted its report to Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
