National Single Window to Boost Trade and Stabilize Economy – Hon Minister of Finance

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has emphasized that implementing the National Single Window project will revolutionise trade facilitation in Nigeria and reinforce economic stability. This initiative, launched by President Bola Tinubu, aims to unify trade-related government agencies on a single digital platform, harmonize clearance processes, reduce bureaucracy, and promote Nigeria’s competitiveness in global commerce.

Progress and Implementation
The National Single Window project is scheduled for rollout in the first quarter of 2026. The Nigeria Customs Service has already deployed WCO-accredited officers who contributed to drafting business process requirements and participated in vendor selection, with continued technical support from the Trade Modernisation Project Limited.

 

 

 

 

 

Impact on Revenue
The Minister disclosed that the Nigeria Customs Service collected N3.68 trillion in revenue between January and June 2025, surpassing projections by 11.85% and reflecting a 25% rise compared to the same period in 2024. This revenue performance is crucial for the federal government, state governments, and local governments, given Customs’ significant contribution to the Federation Account.
