MD of DESOPADEC, lawmaker urge Nigerians to remain focused on God

Managing Director of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Bashorun Askia Ogieh, has urged Nigerians to remain focused on God as the nation battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his Easter message released in Warri, titled “An Awesome God, An Unusual Season,” he said the coronavirus has redefined our lifestyles and the way we relate, adding however, that despite the disease, we must not lose sight of the fact that God is revealing His awesomeness.”

While wishing everyone the blessings of forgiveness and salvation that Easter signifies, Askia urged strict adherence to the guidelines of public health experts on staying safe by washing of hands regularly, using sanitisers, maintaining social distancing and remaining indoors until the scourge ended.

Also, representative of Ndokwa West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Charles Emetulu, has urged the people of Delta to look beyond the COVID-19 pandemic and expect better days ahead.

In his Easter message, he expressed confidence that with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world would soon end, while urging the people not to waver in their faith in God, but to be cheerful because by His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ redeemed the world even from pestilences.

Relatedly, the Ndokwa Nation Development Forum (NNDF) has postponed its planned inauguration billed for Kwale, headquarters of Ndokwa West Council Area on April 11, 2020 till further notice.

This was contained in a statement issued by its Strategy Officer, Austin Mbabe, who said the postponement was in keeping with the state directive on the 14 days lockdown.

“NNDF-in-council has postponed the inauguration ceremony, which was supposed to hold on April 11, 2020. This is in compliance to our conscience, preservation of our health and in compliance to Government directives to stop all social gathering. A new date will be announced later when things normalise.

“NNDF-in-council has directed the organising committee to reach out to all special guests of honour and inform them of the development,” the statement added.
