Counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor, has challenged South-East governors to convince the Igbo that they were not part of the conspiracy in the 2017 Operation Python Dance in which many were killed.
Ejimakor, who is also counsel to IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, stated this in his open letter to the governors titled “Python Dance: An Open Letter to South-East Governors,” dated Monday, September 2, 2019.
He listed ways in which the governors, apart from Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, could absolve themselves, insisting that they should go back to the dialogue they were having with Kanu in 2017.
He, however, lamented that even though it was clear that the dialogue was yielding desired results, “they unilaterally and summarily ended and made it worse by resorting to the proscription that stigmatised the Igbo people.
“The proscription also watered the ground for the various unconstitutional acts against the Igbo that ensued, including the declaration that millions of unarmed southeasterners were terrorists.”
Ejimakor added that the governors should gather together and de-proscribe IPOB, as they did in September 2017 and apologise to Ndigbo for hurriedly resorting to an action that was “wrong and dangerous in all of its ramifications.”
