Ihedioha launches state security outfit, distributes vehicles to councils

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has said that security of lives and property in the state remains one of the cardinal agenda of his administration.

He disclosed that his government continues to make deliberate efforts to deliver on his campaign promises, adding that part of the efforts is to wade off hoodlums and guarantee peace and unity in the state.

Ihedioha stated this at the launch of a joint security operation, code-named: Operation Iron Gate, at Hero’s Square, Owerri yesterday.

All security chiefs in the state, heads of traditional institutions, Interim Management Committee Chairman of council areas and top government officials, among others, attended the event.

The governor also restated his administration’s commitment to exploring means of offering good governance, democratic dividends and overall development of the state, pointing out that it behoves Imo people to support his administration in rebuilding the state.

He commended the security chiefs, council chairmen and others who contributed to the realisation of the programme, adding that his government would partner with private investors to provide security that would help to enhance investment and economy in the state.

The major highlight of the event was the official launch of the security operation and distribution of the new 80 vehicles to the 27 council areas of the state and security agencies for effective operation and enhanced performance.

Special advisers to the governor on security and local government affairs, Raymold Nkemdilim and Mayor Eze, Commissioner of Police (CP) Rabiu Ladodo and others commended Ihedioha for approving the initiative, stressing that it will yield the desired result for the people of Imo State.
