Handing Over Ceremony: Comptroller Adenuga Assumes Office at Seme Area Command… Promises Trade Facilitation and Collaboration at Seme Command

The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command, has a new leader, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, who formally took over the command.
The handing over ceremony was attended by senior officials from sister security agencies, trade and transport stakeholders, community leaders, and the media.

In his inaugural speech, Comptroller Adenuga praised his predecessor for their achievements and pledged to consolidate on them. He emphasized the importance of trade facilitation, stating that proper declarations would enable consignments to leave customs control within the shortest possible time. He also promised to work closely with sister agencies to reduce crime and create a conducive business environment.

Collaboration and Commitment
Comptroller Adenuga committed to maintaining open communications with stakeholders, including traditional rulers, youth, and the media. He assured that his doors would remain open and pledged to lead from the front, ensuring officers remain disciplined and committed to their responsibilities.

The outgoing Area Controller, ACG Oramalugo, highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including: Suppression of smuggling: Significant seizures of prohibited goods. Improved revenue collection: Enhanced trade facilitation to ease legitimate business while safeguarding national security Inter-agency cooperation: Fostering collaboration with sister agencies and community engagement.

The ceremony ended with a collective pledge from all agencies and stakeholders to work in synergy with the new leadership to boost revenue, curb smuggling, enhance security, and promote seamless trade at the Seme Border
