Gunmen abduct Igali’s younger brother, three others in Rivers State

A member of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide and younger brother of Ambassador Godknows Igali, a governorship aspirant, Robert Igali and three others have been kidnapped at Elele Community in Rivers State while trying to rescue Bayelsa State-bound accident victims.

Eyewitnesses said the accident victims were returning from the wedding ceremony of an appointee of a representative of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Preye Oseke.

  It was learnt that they were returning from the wedding in Mbaise Council Area of Imo State when their bus got involved in an accident.

It was also learnt that Igali and three of his friends, who on hearing about the accident, rushed to the scene from Yenagoa to rescue them when they were abducted by gunmen at Madonna University Teaching Hospital in Elele Community where the accident victims were being treated.

The eyewitnesses said one Prince Ekete and an unidentified girl who was involved in the accident died on the spot.

One of the victims who is said to be responding to treatment at the time of filing this report, Dini Adiva, posted these words on Facebook: “I see you all, I can’t reply all your posts and messages for now, but I am grateful.

“Also pray for those who were kidnapped, while trying to make arrangements to move us from Madonna University, Elele to Yenagoa, that they come out unhurt.

“This is a trying time for me and I know it will pass. I appreciate all your love and support. I am yet to seat upright and walk, it will take me some time. Ebinebo Sample and others are recuperating well.”

Sources said the kidnappers have contacted Igali’s family and are demanding N5 million as a ransom for his release.
